The seeds for DD Law Group were planted when Rob Dhanu and Uphar Dhaliwal decided to step away from secure legal careers to create a firm with a real life approach to law. From humble origins with our first office in the gritty Downtown Eastside of Vancouver to evolving into a flagship Fraser Valley law firm – DD Law Group has come a long way. This journey was possible due to an unwavering focus on a client-centred philosophy where the results spoke for themselves and word of mouth did the rest.
Rob is a former Federal Crown prosecutor and now a King’s Counsel, practicing law in the areas of criminal defence, family law and personal injury. He is an experienced litigator who has taught and presented on various legal topics including for the RCMP, Justice Institute and the Canadian Senate.
Uphar brings a diverse array of experience to the areas of Family Law, Immigration Law and Wills & Estates. She is licensed to practice in B.C., The Yukon and Washington State. Uphar regularly presents on various legal topics to lawyers, law students and other industry related professionals.
Rebecca is an experienced criminal lawyer who regularly deals with all manner of charges from simple assault matters to complicated drug trafficking investigations. Rebecca is an executive of the Fraser Valley Criminal Law Association, acts as ad-hoc counsel for the Community Legal Assistance Society and advises individuals as supported by the Ending Violence Association.
At DD Law, Mohit primarily practices Family, Immigration and Refugee Law. Since being called to the bar in 2020, he has represented clients at the Provincial and Supreme levels of court in British Columbia, the Federal Court of Canada, the Immigration Appeal Division and the Refugee Protection/Appeal Division. He has also argued successful administrative deferrals with the Canada Border Services Agency. He serves his clients in English, Hindi and Punjabi.

Lindsay is a paralegal at DD Law Group, having joined the firm in 2012. She graduated from Sprott Shaw Community College with a double Honours Diploma in Legal Administration Assistant/Administration Assistant. She also completed a Diploma in Criminology from Kwantlen Polytechnic University. She then completed the Paralegal Certificate Program at Vancouver Community College in 2013 while working at DD Law Group.

My case went on for 6 year partly due to covid ..when we finally got to trial it was crazy how Mr Dhanu picked every part of the case apart . Had rcmp offices stumbing and getting caught lies.. it was unbelievable how foolish he made them look . I had some pretty heavy charges he saved me a lot of my life by getting everything thrown out.. I suggested at different that we should settle .. he advised me to hold fast that we had a very good chance of beating the case. I wasn’t sure how , after seeing him work I understood. He is a master at what he does. If you want someone that will fight like no other Mr Dhanu should be you first choice..

It is very hard for my father to compliment anyone on his work especially an attorney, but when all was settled he did just that. Rob Dhanu defended my father on weapons charges.
